The Attendees of the continental
Congress

After a long time of constant fighting, and Boycotting; Samuel Adams, George Washington, Peyton Randolph, Patrick Henry, Richard Henry Lee, John Adams, John Jay, Joseph Galloway, and John Dickinson decided to attend the first continental congress. Peyton Randolph of Virginia was chosen president of the Congress. Every colony had equal voting power. At the time, there were 12 colonies. The thirteenth colony (Georgia) selected an official to lead but he didn’t want to attend the continental congress. This is some backround information on the attendees.
George Washington-The future president of the united states, Officer in French & Indian war.
Samuel Adams- One of the first patriots to challenge the British Government (politician).
Peyton Randolph- was President of the first continental congress. Randolph Worked as a full time lawyer
before being president of the continental Congress.
Patrick Henry-Governor of Virginia from 1776-1779
Richard Henry Lee- Statesman for Virginia
John Adams- The future president of the United States and a federalist
John Jay-First chief justice of United States, diplomat, ambassador of Spain and France, co writer of “federalist papers”
Joseph Galloway-American loyalist, speaker of Pennsylvania provincial assembly
John Dickinson-American Lawyer, militia officer, politician from Philadelphia
Boycotting- Refusal to buy or take part in
Patriots- people who were against the British government and the British laws
Dimplomat- a person who represents a country
Loyalist- somebody who favors the British government and the British laws
Militia- a local group of people form together to create a small force
